Twitter client with Lists

This Twitter client has List support RIGHT NOW!

Writing software is frustrating, intricate, occasionally rewarding, frustrating, frustrating work.  Did I mention that it is frustrating?

However, the frustration involved in writing software is as nothing compared to the frustration of selling software.  Users are overwhelmed with options and sales pitches of every kind.  Trying to get heard in that mess is really difficult.

That’s why it frustrates me NO END to see a Tweet like this one: “finally, i gave up the search for a mac twitter client with list support.”  Huh?

Twit Menulet has had Lists support for months and months.  And I’ll say, yes, Lists are now one of the things I like most about Twitter.  They are a great way to find new, great voices, particularly if the lists are updated frequently.  List support should be in every Twitter client.  And its in ours RIGHT NOW!

If you want a Twitter client with List support, then check out our client!

Lists are good…and bad

I was resistant to Twitter Lists at first.  I wasn’t sure how I would find out about a new List, how it would fit into my flow, etc.  After a few months, though, and with Lists support integrated into Twit Menulet, I find that I really like them.  Lists bring me a fantastically varied flow of new information, which is great.

The problem is that Lists have certainly /decreased/ the rate at which I seek out and follow new Twitter users.  I know that this outcome is the opposite of what Twitter intended when they created Lists.  But it’s a fact…after all, if I am subscribed to a List that includes a certain user, why do I need to follow that person separately?

That’s true, but I *like* following people.  Following somebody creates a slightly longer-term relationship; sometimes that person follows back, and then direct messages become possible.  In short, a relationship can sometimes develop out of the simple act of following somebody.  Lists make me miss that possibility some of the time.

Lists turned out to be less important than I thought

but native re-tweets turned out to be more important.  It is amazing how often my own preferences turn out to be wrong!  I have a lot of interest in Lists but very little in native re-tweets.

Twitter Lists

We’re going to keep track of the Twitter clients that handle Lists—but it will take a few days to get rolling.
